HOW AQUATIC MASSAGE HELPED ME
After two years of “I hurt all over” pain and overwhelming fatigue I was finally diagnosed in 1990 with fibromyalgia (FM). In 2007, after 17 years struggling to raise two children, finish graduate school and work part-time, I gave up. I took disability retirement, spending much of the next three years in bed.
My darling granddaughter was born December 2005 and I was fast losing the battle to keep up with her growing energy and needs. One day I decided I had to take charge of my health in order to stay, not just alive, but thriving for myself and my family.
I devoted two years to yoga, massage, supplements, exercise, changing my diet and loving myself and my body. I lost 40 lbs and was able to reduce my blood pressure medication. Although I still have some pain and fatigue, I gradually regained strength and can play with my grandchildren now. I felt ready and able to start planning a new career providing Watsu®, a passion that does not feel like “work”. My husband and I built a beautiful warm-water therapy pool in our back yard and in April 2012 I launched Loving Aquatic Massage!
I know aquatic massage therapy can reduce pain and stress because that’s what I receive just from giving a session. The warm water melts tense muscles, the weightlessness, guided movements and stretches release the spine, allowing the body and joints to move freely.
I love to share my gifts of tranquility and nurturing touch so that other people struggling with pain and stress can find the relief and support to make their own health a priority, as I have made mine. I hope you call me soon.
